If you ever want the proven slow way for learning, go to school where information is fed to you slowly, you don’t know the big picture and instead of spending a whole day on a subject or a topic, you only spend 40 minutes to 1 hour and instead of learning the gaps you are missing, you have to learn a certain type of information or more commonly known as a curriculum.
And what I have described is the least productive way for learning for ultimately school is about the control of information and is a proven slow way for learning, for the information you are fed is like the slow drips coming out of a tap.
Which is a shame, because not far behind that tap is a sea of information, just waiting to be accessed and dived into.
And picture the water as information because if you start with the big picture, understand the gist of things, and pull out the key information, you understand and retain more information in two weeks, than what you could do in a year of schooling.
Try an experiment yourself, pick a subject, any subject and start learning about it, look for what the big picture is, understand the gist of what is going on, pull out the key points and see how much you learn in two weeks and see what your enthusiasm levels are like for learning at the end of the two weeks.
Born to learn
I’d rather go for a swim in the sea than sit under a dripping tap just waiting for the information to come to quench the thirst for knowledge
