As I’m delving into people management skills what I’m finding is there is so many tools you can use in working with people that it can get a bit overwhelming.
It’s a bit like someone who’s into woodwork and when you see the array of tools at their disposal it would be easy to choose the wrong tool to do the job, though if you know what you are making and you know the tool you use to make it happen then you can become an effective craftsman.
So what I’ve decided to do is look at people management from the aspects of sport and sees what needs to be achieved and then looking for the right tools to make it happen.
The following is a list of things you need to make happen as a coach:
Connect with your players
Create proactive learners
Keep players engaged in the learning process
Raise self-esteem and confidence
Develop team work
Understand player’s mindsets
Understand player’s personality traits
Use vivid images
Now that I’ve identified what needs to be done, it’s a case of finding the right tools to get the job done.
Then like any master craftsman, practice using those tools so you become proficient at using them.
If you find the right tools to do the job, the job becomes much easier
