Building things always begins with the first thing that you do. That may sound really obvious, though until one starts, nothing gets done.
And the real question is, where does one start?
And the simple answer is, right where you are.
And when it comes to sport, building a team fundamentally revolves around three things:
And the basis of any coaching revolves around two words:
That’s growing as a coach, growing as a player and growing as an individual, and creating a solid platform by working from and maintaining a solid base, ie: core skills and principles
Because the problem with building anything is the we look to make it too complicated, in other words, we look to over engineer things, and that is where the problems start.
Over Egineering A Problem
And the reason why people over engineer things is because generally they don’t understand principles, and they struggle with being comfortable with space.
For how many people does one know, they see a space and they have to fill it, and what they don’t realise is something called negative space, where it’s the space that’s actually creating the thing that one is doing.
The Power Of Negative Space
Counter intuitive, you bet, though one of the things that one will learn over time is that this world is built up from things that are considered counter intuitive.
Discipline: A Counter-Intuitive Approach
And if one really wants to get into the world of the counter intuitive, one only has to look at quantum physics, for though this world seems solid, the laws of quantum physics says it’s not.
In building things, look for the negative space, it’s where the boundaries actually lies, and in design, generally less is better
