If I was to say that we all had the potential to become a master coach at the sport that we coach in, most would probably say, get out of here, but in reality, it’s true.
For first it helps to identify what a master coach is and secondarily is the steps you take to become a master coach.
A master coach is someone who becomes effective and efficient at what they do and a common denominator of a master coach is they are someone who continually keeps expanding their knowledge and understanding so they can become more effective and efficient at what they do and in their player development.
People have the misconception that to become a master coach is a time thing, it is a time thing, but it’s what you do with that time that matters because someone could coach for 30 to 40 years but still not be that efficient and effective at what they do, or someone could direct their energies and studies on the things that make them efficient and effective and also because they coach at an elite level, doesn’t automatically make them a master coach.
Like anyone who becomes a master at what they do, another trait of a master coach is that they do not look like they are doing much and its only when you try to copy what they do that you realise that they are doing more than you can visually see. And at times their methods may not seem to make sense and may seem unconventional, the end results speak for themselves.

So if you are interested in becoming a master coach, the following are four things to work from and towards, which through their guidance will take many years off the learning process:
Eliminate Needy Behaviour
Coach Players to Learn
Create Pictures in Player Minds
Cultivate and Refine in Players the Core & Key Skill and Techniques
For what these four things do is to shine a light on the areas one needs to expand their knowledge and understanding on in order to become efficient and effective in what you do, in other words, to become a master coach.
Another interesting thing about in becoming a master coach, is because they are always expanding their knowledge and understanding, they always have things in reserve and the more knowledge they gain and understand the more simply they can do things.
And through the gaining of knowledge and wisdom one becomes more philosophical and gains more humility
