When one begins looking at how systems operate, what becomes apparent is that there are at least 2 types of organisational structures, where one type of structure squanders the talent within it and the other opens up and develops the talent within.
With those 2 types of organisational structures being:
Autocratic – Top Down
Where a Top down Structure Requires:
Deference to a perceived authority
Lots of Rules
Where an autocratic top down structure squashes creativity, Imagination, potential in all and helping each other and an autocratic top down structure also encourages pettiness, politics, backstabbing and is a zero-sum game where only a very few benefit
An autocratic top down organisational structure is not a natural type of structure, whereas a self-organising structure is what nature runs on.
The Self-organizing Universe
It requires very few rules and becomes self- regulating, and though when one superficially looks at it, it comes across as being a complex system, whereas as the opposite is in reality, true, and an interesting book to read is Beyond Empowerment by Doug Kirkpatrick
With the accompanying TEDx talk
Self-Organising systems are an interesting area to explore, and will be one of the next ways to open up the creativity, Imagination and productivity in people, and if one doesn’t think a system with only a few rules works, then begin looking at and studying the Mandelbrot set, Phi and the Golden Mean Ratio
